The Nuclear Institute was formed in 2008 by the merger of the Institution of Nuclear Engineers and the British Nuclear Energy Society. Its individual members include engineers, scientists, technicians and support staff drawn from the civil and the defence sectors and because of this the Institute understands and is able to work with the whole of the UK’s nuclear Industry.
The Institute takes over the activities previously run by the Institution of Nuclear Engineers and the British Nuclear Energy Society including the publication of Nuclear Future and their programmes providing education and training, events, and services. It will also continue to run school programmes and offer bursaries for those wishing to further their education in a nuclear ontext.
The Institute will also assume the role of its predecessors in recognising and accrediting the nuclear expertise of members and it will be a Licensed member of the Engineering Council UK.
